Laureate of the 2022 FINA Award

The Finnish laureate of the 2022 FINA Award is Rami El Dairi.

The French Institute Nordic Award (FINA) has been launched in 2020 by the four French Institutes in the Nordic region (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland) to promote cultural and scientific cooperation between France and Nordic countries and to reward outstanding research. The 2022 FINA Award theme was “the oceans”.

The Finnish laureate of the 2022 FINA Award is Rami El Dairi.

Rami El Dairi is currently working as postdoctoral research in the marine research unit at the Finnish environment institute (SYKE) and specially on marine toxicology. His subject of research are effects of microplastic on soil, risk assessments of chemical warfare agents (CWAs) and noise pollution in marine environment.

Thanks to the FINA award, Rami El Dairi will carry out a scientific mobility in Brest, a key place for oceanic research in France, to visit laboratories such as IFREMER, the European Institute of the Sea, the World Sea Campus, or the Roscoff Biological Station. A day will be planned in Paris for meetings with the Ambassador of the poles and maritime issues, the Ministry of the Sea, IRIS, the European Marine Biological Resource Centre, Sorbonne University, etc. The trip will take place during the first week of October 2022.
