The French+Gastronomy summer school, in English (it is not necessary to speak French), has been developed for international students aged 18 and over, from higher education institutions, or high schools or vocational schools.
Set in the heart of Rouen, Normandy, the first French city to be designated a UNESCO “City of Gastronomy”, this three-week programme, from June 17 to July 5, 2024, combines an introduction to French, a taste of French gastronomy and the hotel and restaurant industries. During this summer school, you’ll discover the techniques of top chefs, meet producers and professionals in the gastronomy industry.
Scholarships from the French Institute of Finland
For this 2024 edition, the French Institute of Finland is supporting the participation of one to two participants from Finland. The scholarships cover:
- Tuition fees
- Travel (round trip between Finland and summer school)
- Accommodation
- Living allowance (amount to be defined)
- Insurance
The deadline for applications is April 2, 2024.

The application includes a CV in French or English and a covering letter in French or English. The cover letter should highlight the reasons for applying and the quality of the applicant’s educational/student background. Candidates will also be asked to indicate the theme or themes you are interested in.
The results will be announced a few days after the deadline.
Registration as self-financed participant
The summer school is open to self-funded participants. The Summer School runs from 17 June to 5 July 2024 in Rouen. The deadline for registering is 12 April 2024. You can register directly on the organiser’s website (https://www.frenchinnormandy.com/french-gastronomy/).
