The iconic LUX Helsinki light festival illuminates the city from January 8 to 12, 2025. And if you’re not a fan of the cold weather, don’t worry: the 2025 edition of the festival features a selection of indoor works titled “LUX In”. It is in this sub-event that you will have the opportunity to discover the sound art piece “OLYMPhonIC”, created by French artist Stéphane Marin.
“OLYMPhonIC” is a six-channel sound installation that explores and spatializes the dynamics inherent to sports through subtle dramaturgy. Original recordings collected during Olympic and Paralympic training sessions for Paris 2024 are played to create an immersive experience. It is through sound that one can feel the movement, intensity, and power of various sports. The piece harmonizes these specific sound nuances to the athletes’ efforts, revealing a global spectrum that captures the essence of the sports world.
The French Institute of Finland supports this exhibition as part of its cultural programming. The exhibition is available at Kaapelitehdas from January 8 to 12, 2025. The festival is free of charge.
