The French Institute of Finland and Helsinki Chamber Orchestra are organizing their traditional Francophonie Concert on March 25, at 7 PM at the Helsinki Cathedral. This grand event celebrates classical music from countries of the International Francophonie Organization, featuring a different guest of honor each year who adds their country’s unique touch to the program.
This year, we are delighted to welcome Austria as the guest of honor, which gives us the opportunity to enjoy Schönberg’s masterpiece Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night) as well as Mozart’s Divertimento K. 138. The event will culminate with the performance of Fauré’s Requiem with the Viva Vox Choir. Notably, the concert will take place at the Helsinki Cathedral, Helsinki’s most famous monument.
Program:
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Divertimento K. 138
- Arnold Schönberg: Verklärte Nacht (version for String Orchestra)
- Intermission (10 min)
- Gabriel Fauré: Requiem
The concert is led by the French conductor James Kahane, who has gained a world-wide reputation as the Music Director of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Helsinki Chamber Orchestra, and Principal Conductor of the Drôme Chamber Orchestra.
The tickets will be available on this web page during the first week of February 2025! (35€ /25€)!
