What is the fate of women and other marginalized people in the entertainment industry?
This is the question that French artist Pauline Curnier Jardin’s exhibition seeks to answer. To do so, she transforms the exhibition space at Helsinki’s Museum of Contemporary Art into a grotesque theme park, where cinematic works explore gender norms, power, and violence. In a carnivalesque atmosphere, the films offer a different perspective on religious celebrations, the Catholic faith’s view of sexuality, and romanticism in the entertainment industry.
The French Institute of Finland supports this exhibition as part of its cultural programming. The exhibition is on view on the 5th floor of Kiasma from October 11, 2024, to February 23, 2025.
