ART & BLOCKCHAIN

Wednesday, November 17, 2021 15:00

French and Nordic specialists discuss the impact of blockchain technology in their practice and in the arts field in general.

Blockchain entered the world on January 3rd, 2009, introducing an innovative new trust architecture: an environment in which users trust a system like a large shared information registry.

The art world expected no more, as this new technology promises to eliminate the intermediaries between the creator and his public, giving artists the possibility to be better paid, and to regain control over their works and their rights. But in concrete terms, what will really change with blockchain? Are terms like consensus or decentralization through this new technology really revolutionary and emancipatory concepts? And what can a world with anonymous actors and without its own governance looks like? Is the work of art destined to a totally dematerialized future? And what concrete advantages does blockchain bring to artistic creation and to artists in their relationship with the art market?

We will welcome for this webinar; the Norwegian artist Trym Ruud who totally changed his life thanks to this new technology; the Swedish circus artist Olle Strandberg who explore gravity, radical trust and common risk-taking, the Danish artist Jonas Kasper Jensen who works between digital art, Non Fungible Token, painting and sound; the artist, activist and researcher Primavera de Filippi, who gives conferences on art and blockchain all over the world; and finally Albert Meige, author and entrepreneur specialized in digital transformations who will be the moderator of the debate.
