IUCN: Come meet four young Nordic researchers!

Thursday, May 27, 2021 15:30

Come meet four young Nordic researchers in nature conservation before they attend the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Marseille, France, from 3 to 11 September 2021!

Those four researchers are Helena Tukiainen from Finland, Justine Ramage from Sweden, Julie Strand from Denmark, and Annabel Mempel from Norway. They are the laureates of the 2021 French Institutes Nordic Award (FINA) and would love to talk to you during a special webinar that will take place on May 27th.

To get familiar with them and their research beforehand, feel free to listen to the 5-minutes-long podcasts they recorded on Franskapodden – starting with the Finnish laureate! – or to watch this video from the French Institute of Sweden.

If you are interested in participating to this Zoom webinar, register using this link. This will give you the opportunity to meet the laureates and ask them all the questions you have about their work!

If you didn’t know what the IUCN World Conservation Congress was before you read this, here’s what you need to know:

“Held once every four years, the IUCN World Conservation Congress brings together several thousand leaders and decision-makers from government, civil society, indigenous peoples, business, and academia, with the goal of conserving the environment and harnessing the solutions nature offers to global challenges. The Congress aims to improve how we manage our natural environment for human, social and economic development, but this cannot be achieved by conservationists alone. The IUCN Congress is the place to put aside differences and work together to create good environmental governance, engaging all parts of society to share both the responsibilities and the benefits of conservation.”

Check out the congress’ website for more information.
