Exhibition: Climate – What Science Is Still Exploring

March the 27th - April the 11th, 2025

Science has greatly advanced our understanding of climate change. However, the role of clouds, forests, and the evolution of precipitation still hold many secrets.

The global average surface temperature has already increased by 1.2°C compared to the 1850–1900 period. According to the 6th IPCC report (2023), this warming is “unequivocally” linked to human activities, mainly due to greenhouse gas emissions. These two key findings confirm the predictions of climate scientists.

However, many questions remain unanswered in climate science. Accurately predicting climate evolution at a regional scale in the human-dominated era remains a complex challenge. To improve the reliability of their forecasts, researchers continuously refine the spatial and temporal resolution of their models and study processes that are still not well understood, such as the role of clouds and tipping points.

Discover the behind the scenes of climate research with our exhibition “Climate – What Science Is Still Exploring,” organized at the French Institute of Finland from March 27 to April 11, 2025. Discover how climate models are developed, their limitations, and the challenges the scientific community still faces.

The exhibition, presented in French, is freely accessible during the opening hours of the Institute’s library. It has been prepared by Universcience, which includes the Palais de la Découverte and the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris.
