If you are passionate about music and history, this event is for you!
Franco-Nordic influences in the field of music remain a relatively unknown theme to the general public. In her book, published in 2024, “Notes on Snow: Musical Relations Between France and the Nordic Countries 1900-1939”, the Finnish musicologist Helena Tyrväinen sheds new light on the subject.
During this evening, the researcher will present the history of musical relations between France and the Nordic countries, referring to the 10 essays dedicated to the topic in her book. She will take us on a journey through France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Estonia. Musical excerpts will accompany the evening, drawn from the works of composers encountered during this journey: Grieg, Sibelius, Nielsen, d’Indy, Widor, Debussy, Ravel, Schmitt, and Stravinsky. Helena Tyrväinen will also talk about the writing process of the book with her French editor, Étienne Jardin.
Free entry upon registration. The event will be held in French.
