Driven by a multifaceted artistic curiosity, French composer and musician Philippe Ollivier works with the bandoneon and the electronic music software Logelloop, which he developed himself. The bandoneon, similar to the accordion, is an aerophone used notably in Argentine music. With these elements, Philippe Ollivier has created a unique musical genre, blending composition, oral tradition, and improvisation.
In his concert at the Institute on November 29 at 5:00 PM, Ollivier will play the bandoneon accompanied by real-time sound processing via Logelloop. Philippe Ollivier uses a 3D hand-tracking tool to control the computer and, by extension, the software. Additionally, he employs a sound spatialization system using six small speakers, which will immerse the audience—situated at the center of the speakers—into weightless sound.
Free admission upon registration. The opening words of the event will be held in French and Finnish.
